What is different
- No photo, age or marital status. US employers are advised not to ask for an applicant's photograph before an offer[1], so a photo on a CV tends to hurt more than help.
- One or two pages. Recruiters skim, so keep what matters.
- Results instead of duties. Not "responsible for the calendar" but what changed because of you.
- Keywords from the job post. Many companies filter CVs in an ATS, so tool and role names should match the posting.
Structure
- Name and contacts: email, phone, city and country, LinkedIn. Add your hours: "Yerevan, Armenia — available for US and European hours".
- Summary: two or three sentences on who you are and what you do best.
- Experience: title, company, dates; three to five result bullets under each role.
- Skills / Tools: software and services you have used.
- Education and certificates, briefly, at the end.
- Languages: "English — C1" and your native languages.
How to describe experience: sample lines
Formula: past-tense verb + what you did + the result in numbers. The numbers must be yours; if you do not have exact ones, give a careful estimate ("about 30 meetings a week").
Executive assistant
Managed the calendar and inbox of the CEO and two directors, about 30 meetings a week across three time zones.
Prepared weekly sales reports in Google Sheets and cut reporting time from 3 hours to 1.
Booked travel for 12 business trips a year within budget.
Customer support
Answered 60–80 customer chats and emails a day in Zendesk with a 95% satisfaction score.
Processed returns and refunds for a Shopify store with 300+ orders a day.
Wrote 25 help-centre articles that reduced repeat questions.
The figures in these samples are illustrations of the wording. Use only your real results: you will be asked about them in the interview.
What to avoid
- Literal translations of local job titles. Use the role a recruiter recognises: Office Manager, Customer Support Specialist.
- Long paragraphs and lists of traits like "responsible, communicative".
- Mistakes in English: run the text through Grammarly or ask someone to read it.
- Dates and titles that differ between your CV and LinkedIn.
Next steps
Post your CV on Stafka: companies see an anonymous profile and contact you, and you decide who gets your details. Then prepare for the interview in English.
Questions
Should I put a photo on my CV for a US company?
No. US employers are advised not to ask for photos before an offer, so a CV without one is the norm.
How long should my CV be?
One page with under 10 years of experience, two pages with more. The top half of the first page should show why you are worth a call.
Should I state my English level?
Yes, on the CEFR scale: "English — C1". If you have a certificate (IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge), add it and the year.
