How it works
A foreign company that hires someone in Armenia usually does not open an office here or put you on a local employment contract. Most often you sign an independent contractor agreement directly with the company and invoice it every month in US dollars.
The second option is an employer of record: the company hires you through a provider that issues a local employment contract. It costs the company more than a contractor agreement, so small companies use it less often.
The third is a freelance platform that handles payment. It works for first projects, but the platform takes a fee and clients come and go.
Our vacancies use the first model: a contract directly with the company, paid monthly in US dollars via Deel, Wise or Payoneer. We only recruit and never take anything from your pay.
Where to find jobs
Foreign companies post jobs on their own sites, on LinkedIn and on international remote-job boards. Many are open only to the US or to certain countries, so read the location line: "Remote — US only" means candidates in Armenia are not considered.
On Stafka we collect jobs you can apply to from Yerevan, Armenia: from the Remotive, Jobicy, We Work Remotely and Remote OK feeds and from employers. There are 26 right now, by field:

What English you need
For most non-IT roles, at least B2: you write and talk to the team every day. Support, sales and content roles need B2+ or higher because you deal with native-speaking customers. In the EF English Proficiency Index 2025 Armenia ranks 56th of 123 countries, in the "moderate" band[3], so confident B2+ English still sets you apart.
Working hours
You work the company's hours. A 9:00–17:00 day in New York is 18:00–02:00 in Yerevan time, and in Berlin it is 12:00–20:00 (winter time; an hour earlier in summer). The full table is in working US hours from Yerevan, Armenia.
Pay and taxes
You are paid in US dollars to a bank account or through Deel or Payoneer: how to get paid from abroad. As a contractor you handle your own taxes in Armenia.
Which registration and tax regime fit your work is a question for a local accountant: we do not publish tax figures until we have checked them against the law.
Step by step: from job post to first payment
- Update your CV in English and your LinkedIn profile.
- Apply to jobs open to candidates in Armenia, or post your CV on Stafka so companies can find you.
- Pass the selection: a test task and interviews in English.
- Get the offer and read the contractor agreement carefully: scope, pay, term, termination.
- Register for tax as your adviser recommends and open a US dollar account.
- Set up the payment method the company uses and send your first invoice.
How to avoid scams
A real company never asks a candidate for money: not for training, equipment, "verification" or access to tasks. Never send a photo of your card or SMS codes. See how to spot a fake job offer and our official channels on is it really us?.
Questions
Do I need a US visa to work for a US company?
No, if you work from home in Armenia: you provide services from here under a contractor agreement; you are not travelling to work in the US.
Who pays the taxes, the company or me?
Under a contractor agreement you pay your own taxes in Armenia. The company pays your invoice in full.
How much do foreign companies pay?
It depends on the role and experience. Our vacancies: executive assistant $800–1,100 and customer support $700–1,000 a month. Stated pay of other open jobs is on the salaries page.
Can I work European hours?
Yes, with a European company: their day is 12:00–20:00 in Yerevan time (winter time; an hour earlier in summer), close to a normal local day.
