Remote sales and SDR jobs in Tbilisi, Georgia

A sales development representative (SDR) finds potential customers, writes and calls them and books meetings for senior sellers. Here is how the roles, pay and requirements work at foreign companies.

What the job is

Sales at US and European companies is split into stages. An SDR or BDR owns first contact: finds companies and people, sends emails and messages, calls and books a meeting. An account executive runs the meetings, prepares the proposal and closes the deal. An account manager looks after existing customers.

Remote hires abroad are usually SDRs and account executives for the markets where the company sells, so speaking several languages is a direct advantage.

Pay is usually a fixed base plus a bonus for results: meetings booked for an SDR, deals closed for an account executive. Read carefully which part is guaranteed.

Duties

  • Find companies and people who could buy the product.
  • Write personal emails and LinkedIn messages.
  • Call prospects and find out whether the product fits them.
  • Book meetings for account executives.
  • Log every contact and deal in the CRM.
  • Report weekly on activity and results.

What you need

  • C1 English or close to it: daily calls with native speakers.
  • Sales experience, ideally B2B; cold calling is a plus.
  • Resilience: most prospects say no.
  • CRM discipline: every contact logged.

How to get this job

  1. Show activity and results in numbers. Calls a day, meetings a month, your quota and how much of it you hit.
  2. Rehearse a cold call in English. Record two minutes: who you are, why you are calling, one question. Sales interviews often include exactly this role play.
  3. Clarify pay before the offer. Which part is fixed, what the bonus depends on, when it is paid and whether there is a ramp-up quota.
  4. Check the company. "Sales" with no base pay where you first have to buy stock or a package is not a job: signs of a fake job offer.

Questions

What do OTE and base mean in sales jobs?

Base is the fixed part of the pay. OTE (on-target earnings) is what you earn including the bonus if you hit your quota. Only the base is guaranteed.

Can I move into sales without experience?

SDR roles sometimes go to people from customer support or recruiting with strong spoken English who are not afraid of the phone.

How is an SDR different from an account executive?

The SDR finds prospects and books meetings; the account executive runs them and closes deals. People often become account executives after a year or two as an SDR.
