Decide these four things first
- Channels and volume: email, chat, phone or social, and roughly how many conversations a day.
- Hours: the exact shift in your time zone and in the candidate's, including weekends if any.
- Scope: what the agent can decide alone, such as refunds up to a limit, replacements or discount codes.
- Pay: a monthly range. For reference, our own e-commerce support vacancies pay $700–1,000[1] a month for full-time work.

The template
Job description: remote customer support specialist
Customer Support Specialist, remote, full-time
[Company] sells [products] to customers in [markets]. Our customers write to us by [email and chat] about [orders, returns and product questions]. We are looking for someone who makes every customer feel looked after and helps us fix the causes of their problems.
What you will do
• Answer customer emails and chats in [Gorgias / Zendesk / Help Scout], aiming for a first reply within [our target time] during your shift.
• Handle orders in [Shopify]: changes, cancellations, returns and refunds within our policy.
• Tag conversations and tell us every week which problems came up most often.
• Keep our help centre articles and saved replies up to date.
You will do well here if you
• Write warm, clear English (B2+ or higher). • Have worked in customer support before, in any industry. • Stay calm with upset customers. • Like solving the problem behind the ticket.
Hours and pay
[Shift in your time zone and the candidate's, e.g. 13:00–22:00 Kyiv time, Monday to Friday]. Monthly pay: [range] in US dollars, paid on the [date] via [Deel / Wise / Payoneer]. Contract: [independent contractor / employment], with [paid time off terms].
How to apply
Send your CV and your reply to this message from a customer: “My order was supposed to arrive yesterday and it still hasn't. I need it for a birthday on Saturday.” Finalists do a short paid task.
The sample customer message is the most useful line in the ad. It shows writing, empathy and whether the candidate asks for the order number or promises things they cannot control.
Variants for e-commerce and software
E-commerce
Add order handling in your store platform, returns and exchanges, carrier claims, and a line about busy seasons such as Black Friday and the holidays, with how you handle overtime or extra hours.
Software or SaaS
Add troubleshooting, reproducing bugs and writing clear bug reports for developers, onboarding calls with new users if any, and the tools: a help desk, an issue tracker such as Jira or Linear, and screen recording.
Notes on each part
- Name the help desk and the platform. Experienced agents look for tools they know; newer ones see what to learn.
- Describe authority. “Refunds within our policy” tells candidates they will be trusted; it also attracts people who want responsibility.
- State the response target honestly. If you expect replies within an hour, say so.
- Hours in both time zones. Evening shifts are common in remote support; say exactly when, and keep the schedule stable.
What to leave out
- Commission-only pay or pay tied to customer ratings alone.
- “Fast-paced environment” instead of the real volume.
- Photo, age or marital status requirements.
- Unpaid trial shifts on live customers.
- Asking candidates to pay for training, equipment or a deposit. Never; such jobs are declined on Stafka.
When applications come in, move straight to the interview: our customer support interview questions include role-play prompts that build on the sample message. You can post the job free on Stafka; pricing shows when a fee applies.
A short version for job boards and social posts
Some places only show the first lines of an ad. Keep a compact version that carries the essentials and links to the full description:
Short version

Hours: [shift in the candidate's time zone]. Pay: [range] a month in US dollars, paid via [method].
English: B2+ or higher, warm and clear in writing. Apply with your CV and a reply to the customer message in the full ad.
Keep the pay, the hours and the sample message in every version. They are what filters applicants fastest.
Questions
Should a support job ad mention the expected number of tickets?
A rough range helps. It tells candidates whether the role is calm or busy and filters out people who are not looking for that pace.
Is it fine to ask for previous support experience?
Yes, but any customer-facing experience counts: hospitality, retail and call centres build the same skills. The writing sample shows the rest.
Where should I post a remote support job?
Where your candidates look: job boards in their countries, LinkedIn, and remote job sites. On Stafka the job is shown to candidates in Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia and Kazakhstan on the site for their country, in their language.
How do I describe evening shifts honestly?
Write the exact hours in the candidate's time zone and say whether they are fixed. Many people prefer a stable evening shift; few accept a schedule that changes every week.
