From listings to jobs counted

We read 1,817 listings from four boards. Our filters dropped 1,017 of them, 15 repeated a job we already had (same company and title), and 785 remain. The feed records how many listings each board lost, not the reason for each one.

How we count

  • Source. The public job feeds of Remotive, Jobicy, We Work Remotely and Remote OK, read once a day by our collector. This snapshot was collected on 4 November 2026.
  • What counts as a job here. A remote listing in one of nine non-IT families: assistants, customer support, operations, sales, marketing, HR and recruiting, finance, project coordination, content. Families are assigned from the job title, then from the board's own category. A job on more than one board counts once, and only as open when every copy is.
  • What our filters drop. Titles outside the nine families, including IT, product, design, legal, medical and teaching; listings older than 45 days or past their end date (posted date plus 30 days when a board gives none); listings that need another working language; listings limited to Russia or Belarus; companies on our block list.
  • What “open” means. The location field says worldwide or anywhere, or names the country or a region that includes it, and nothing in the title or description narrows that. EMEA counts for Georgia, Armenia and Ukraine; Europe and Eastern Europe for Ukraine; the Caucasus for Georgia and Armenia; Central Asia for Kazakhstan. Phrases such as “must be based in the US”, “authorized to work in the US” or US employment terms remove a job. A job with no location stated is not counted as open.
  • Salary. The listing states an amount, in any currency, as the board publishes it.
  • Limits. Four boards, English-language remote non-IT jobs, not the whole market. The boards expose different windows: Jobicy's API covers the last 7 days and Remotive delays jobs by 24 hours (Remotive returned 10 listings on this date). We read the text automatically with fixed patterns, so a single job can be misread in either direction. Open on paper does not mean an employer will hire in that country: payroll, tax or contract rules can still rule it out.
  • Updates. Rebuilt daily. If the feed is more than 2 days old the report is taken down until the feed is fresh again.
